With Resurrection Sunday coming soon, we Christians can't help but focus more attention on the Biblical story of Christ's resurrection. At least we should be focusing on the resurrection. Many Christians, myself included, tend to spend a lot of time on the once-for-all sacrificial death of Christ - with good reason - but sometimes forget about the Resurrection. Truly the resurrection is vital to Christian truth as an actual event that took place in time - truly the most significant event in history.

Here is a quote from Real Clear Theology and an article there that talks about the necessity of Christ's resurrection:

The gospel is not encapulated in "Christ died for our sins." If Christ died for our sins but did not rise from the dead, his death avails nothing:

"But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. . . . and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins." (1 Cor 15:13-17).

The emphasis the NT witnesses placed on the resurrection as absolutely essential to the gospel is striking
